Small plates built for sharing
At The Crazy Goose, we serve small, fire-cooked dishes designed to be ordered in number and shared across the table. Everything comes off charcoal or out of the wood fire, arrives charred and blistered, and is built to be picked and passed around.
Order a few, then a few more – that’s how it’s meant to be, no matter the occasion. Located between Brighton seafront and the Lanes, just off West Street, The Crazy Goose is an easy stop for small plates any night of the week.
Small Plates Straight from the Fire
From our tuna crudo, grilled tiger prawns, and sticky lamb ribs to wood-fired halloumi, sea bream ceviche, chicken sambousek, and charred aubergine, every small plate takes their turn over the flames before landing on the table.
We offer a range of seafood, meat, and vegetable-led plates so there’s something for everyone to reach for, with a range of flavours and textures to work through. Vegetarian and vegan small plates are also available so no one at the table needs a separate order to eat well.
Charcoal Skewers to Add to the Table
Our skewers are quick off the flame and built to top up a table order. Amba chicken thigh, lamb kofta, spiced octopus, and harissa oyster mushrooms all come charred straight from the charcoal to your table.
They’re fast to fire, easy to share, and the kind of thing you can order to the table that every person will enjoy.
Pickles, Spreads and Bites to Start
Most of our customers start the same way: with seasonal house pickles, flatbread with sesame brown butter, black chickpea hummus, whipped feta, and pressed pickled cucumber with taramasalata, ready for pulling apart and spreading.
For first-timers, this is the easiest way to start. Order a couple of pickles and spreads to open the table while everyone settles, before building out from there with our famous flame-cooked small plates to set the rest of the evening.
A Sharing Menu for the Whole Table
For an easy way to try our small plates range as a group, our Experience Menu and Vegetarian Experience Menu do the choosing for you. Each menu is a curated small plates sharing menu priced per person, with a minimum for two guests.
This will line up pickles and spreads, and small plates and skewers designed to cover the range of what’s on the fire that day.
Sharing Food, Sociable Nights
A meal of small plates has a different pace to it. The plates arrive as they’re ready rather than altogether. This allows conversation to carry on, and no one is tied to their own order. This is the perfect rhythm for long lunches, groups wanting to order everything on the menu, and pre-drinks before a big night.
Our open kitchen and fire sit at the centre of the room so the cooking stays part of the intimate atmosphere. It’s an informal, sociable way to eat and built for tables who want to linger in the moment rather than rush through a schedule.
